A Day Of Light and Air

Woke up to the most beautiful morning. The view from the back of the house was stunning.
The valley was full of mist, and the roofs were covered in frost.
The mist was even thicker further down the valley looking over towards Solsbury Hill.
Su was feeling a bit better than she has for the last week, so it was time to go out for a jaunt and get some fresh air. Chew Valley Lake looked beautiful - this was just we'd been treated to a fly-past of half a dozen swans.
Looking north towards Denny Island.
We tootled down through Somerset. It was really misty as we came over the hill down towards Cheddar and Axbridge - the effect of the sun's heat on the flood waters we saw stretched in front of us on the levels. These were the only extensive flood waters we saw, as we then headed seawards to arrive at sunny Brean Beach.
Brean Down looked good in the sunshine.
We had a quick bite to eat in the National Trust cafe - being quite bemused by this pair of ducks in wellington boots.
Then it was along the bottom of Brean Down and chatting to these heifers, before being beguiled by the sight of a family of swans walking across a field.
At the bottom of Brean Down, its claim to fame - featuring Keira Knightley and Cate Blanchett.
On the top of the down looking South West.
Across the bay towards the edge of Weston-Super-Mare, seeing the very clearly defined river path through the mud.
We sat in the sun on a bench for a while, with our shadows in a nearby tree.
Another abandoned glove for my collection spotted in the car park.
This day a year ago, the skies were also dramatic - this from my afternoon walk with Bella.
