ZigZagging Across Dartmoor

We left Wembury today after a very relaxing and chilled out short stay. Bella has swum lots and slept well, but has paid for it with stiffness in her arthritic bones. On the way back, we dropped in to see our old neighbours from Clutton, who have bought 22 acres of woodland and fields on Dartmoor. They have great plans for all sorts of woodland-based enterprises, and spend loads of time up there - planting, clearing, woodworking etc. This is Paul looking at potential charcoal fodder!

Pam showed us the old copper mine workings on their neighbours' land. They have bits of the copper mine on their land as well, including a  22 foot deep pit!

Bella really liked it there, finding lots of sticks to chew and places to sniff. This was the old beam engine building for the copper mine.

After we left them, we went up onto Dartmoor and spent the rest of the afternoon up there, We weaved backwards and forwards across it, enjoying the fabulous weather and amazingly varied landscape.

After stopping for something to eat, we have finally got home (hence the lateness of today's blog post). Tomorrow the tiling of the kitchen calls me, but we'll be off again next week to meet up with my brother and sister-in-law for a few days camping!

This day a year ago, Su met up with other volunteers at Dorothy House with for lunch. She came home, and mowed the grass apart from this patch around our neighbour's Russian Blue cat.
