Two Days Worth of Blog

After yesterday's interruption of normal reporting, it is time to catch up with what's been going on. On Friday night we walked over Beacon Hill to Ye Old Farmhouse pub to catch our pal Patrick playing. This was a heat for a competition to win a day's recording at Real World Studios in Box, as part of Bath Folk Festival. This was Patrick in his wild blues man outfit.
There were three other bands playing, including this one (Mazaj) who played Arabic and Turkish music. They had a belly dancer (Carmen) for their last number, which seemed to attract a lot of male gazes for some reason. This probably contributed to their winning the competition! The music was really good too.
The last band on were One Mississippi Two - who played blues numbers, including an interesting version of Bob Marley's Exodus.
On Saturday, I disassembled our old sink unit, now that the new one is all fitted (still waiting for me to tile up round it it, of course!). The joys of Ikea kit…
Ben and Lena also brought the van back after their week away. After they had gone back home, we went off down to the Little Theatre to see "The Five Year Engagement" - an entertaining rom com, with some truly surreal moments. Certainly took my mind off post-migraine fug.

Not content with that, this morning saw us back at the Little Theatre, to see "Take This Waltz". This was a less satisfying romantic (melo)drama - maybe we are just not hormonal enough a generation to appreciate the angst of it all:-). Then it was an early walk for Bella, before we zoomed into Bristol to renew our love affair with dim sum at Dynasty.
Came out over Bristol Bridge.
Coming up to the top of Corn Street.
We went out through Old Market, which used to be the main thoroughfare of old Bristol, before all the new shopping centre developments
Driving home, Su consented to another partial portrait - this one of her left ear and newish ear-rings.
On August 4th last year, we went to the Bristol Wood Recycling Project to buy some recycled wood for raised beds in our allotment. A great place, and met one of my former students who works there!
This day a year ago, Martyn Harries from UWE (up for an Emmy this year for his sound work) rescued me from decorating duty and whisked me away to a pub lunch in his modest vehicle.
